Sunscreen Matters in the Winter: Protect and Nourish Your Skin Year-Round
  by Margaret McNamara

When the temperatures drop and daylight dwindles, it’s easy to assume that your skin requires less protection from the sun. However, maintaining sun protection during the colder months is essential for your skin’s long-term health and radiance.

Even if you are not sunbathing in high UV indexes, we'd like to make a case for your winter skincare.

The Winter Sun is Still Harmful

While UVB rays—the ones responsible for sunburn—are less intense in the winter, UVA rays remain consistent year-round. These rays penetrate clouds and glass, contributing to premature aging, hyperpigmentation, and an increased risk of skin cancer.

Keep up with your SPF! It can do wonders to prevent skin damage like fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and even a dull, dehydrated complexion.

Supplements That Enhance Skin Health

Skincare is not just an outside job. A nutrient-rich skincare routine can amplify its protective effects from the inside out. Here are some key vitamins to include in your regimen:

  1. Buffered C: Vitamin C brightens the skin, reduces hyperpigmentation, and boosts collagen production

  2. Essential D3/K2: Promotes skin repair and rejuvenation

  3. Blu Mega: Omega-3 Fatty acids reduce inflammation and keep skin plump and hydrated

  4. Blu Clear: Think of this as a multivitamin for your skin. This medley of nutrients promotes clear skin with a formula rich in Vitamin A, minerals, and antioxidants to support healthy skin, minimize breakouts, and protect cells from free radicals.
